Abstract:Until the 19th Century land transport was carried exclusively on roads and cart tracks. First railroad brought big changes in transport, economy and had big strategic and military impact. In the First World War railway traffic played important role for supplying Austro-Hungarian army on the Isonzo Front. Railway further developed on the territory of SHS monarchy with new connections toward Balkan after the collapse of the Austro- Hungarian monarchy. In the Second World War occupation forces used railroad for logistic purposes, on the other hand Partisans made a lot of commando attacks on railway infrastructure. After the Second World War railroad went through a lot of changes and a lot of tracks were closed.
