Abstract:Članek predstavi teoretični okvir in modele strateškega razmišljanja ter praktično uporabo le-teh na primeru študije primera feldmaršala Alana Brooka. Predstavljeni so različni modeli strateškega mišljenja, ki pripomorejo k jasnemu razumevanju pojma, saj prikazujejo povezanost in nujnost različnih veščin, kompetenc, sposobnosti, vplivov zunanjega okolja in so sestavni del koncepta strateškega razmišljanja.

The different models of strategic thinking are presented, contributing to a clear understanding of the concept by showing the interconnectedness and necessity of different skills, competences, abilities, and influences of the external environment which are an integral part of the concept of strategic thinking. The aim of this paper is to present the definitions and different models which define the theoretical content of strategic thinking and to test them on a case study of a successful strategic leader. The key competencies of strategic thinking are presented: critical, creative, temporal and ethical thinking and systems theory. The case study draws on the biography and achievements of Field Marshal Alan Brooke to show how this outstanding newspaperman used different types of strategic thinking, which he put into practice in the form of military strategies during the Second World War. The discussion concludes with a direct link between the theoretical models and the case study, and the application of the use of strategic thinking in the Slovenian Armed Forces. Keywords:strategic military thinking, competences, military leadership
