Abstract:Globalni demografski trendi prinašajo številne izzive kadrovskim strokovnjakom in vodjem v vojaških in policijskih organizacijah. Zaradi kvantitativnih (staranje populacije in zmanjševanje naravnega prirastka) in kvalitativnih (vrednostne preference in pričakovanja mlajših generacij) sprememb so oteženi procesi privabljanja, vodenja in zadrževanja kadrovskih virov. Prispevek omogoča vpogled v pristop motivacijske teorije samodoločanja (SDT) na področju vodenja in odgovarja na vprašanje, kako lahko kadrovski strokovnjaki in vodje s kadrovskimi ukrepi in načinom vodenja optimizirajo procese privabljanja, vodenja in zadrževanja kadrovskih virov. Raziskovalcem vojaških in policijskih organizacij pa odpira nove okvire proučevanja in informiranja prakse.

Due to quantitative changes (population aging and declining natural population growth) and qualitative shifts (value preferences and expectations of younger generations), the processes of attracting, leading, and retaining human resources have become increasingly complex. This paper provides insights into the application of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in leadership and addresses the question of how HR experts and leaders can optimize recruitment and retention processes through tailored HR measures and leadership approaches. For researchers in military and police organizations, it opens new frameworks for empirical inquiry and evidencebased practice.Keywords:self-determination theory, motivation
