Abstract:Z vstopom v Nato in Evropsko unijo (v nadaljevanju: EU) Republika Slovenija (v nadaljevanju: RS) skladno s svojimi nacionalnimi interesi sodeluje v mednarodnih operacijah in misijah (v nadaljevanju: MOM) na posameznih kriznih žariščih.

So Republic of Slovenia in fact contributes to international peace, security and stability, however on the other hand it faces various contemporary sources of threats and security risks. The presence of the Slovenian Armed Forces in these areas carries a risk of exposure of territory of Republic of Slovenia to terrorism and other forms of non-military threats. The complexity of the threats and the increasing global nature of the development of modern communication and information systems dictates the need to gather intelligence and information, for which we need qualified and trained personnel capable to understand the scope and role of military intelligence, counterintelligence and security activities (hereinafter: VOPVD). Therefore, careful development of existing and new personnel of VOPVD is essential. Commanders and decision makers in the Ministry of Defence (hereinafter: MORS) must be thoroughly informed about scope and application of VOPVD in order to better understand its role in the Republic of Slovenia (hereinafter: RS) and in international operations and missions (hereinafter: MOS).Keywords:personnel, planning, training, selection, military intelligence
