Abstract:Območje Kosova je že stoletja prostor, kjer bivajo Srbi in Albanci. Zaradi zgodovinskih razlogov si oba naroda lastita pravico do razpolaganja z območjem Kosova.

Language:EnglishAbstract:The region of Kosovo is a space where Serbs and Albanians have lived for centuries. Both nations claim the right to have the territory of Kosovo at their disposal due to historical reasons. The ethnic conflict began to be more strongly reflected in 19th century and reached its peak after the collapse of SFR Yugoslavia. The international community interfered with the conflict and tried to resolve it peacefully through peace negotiations. As they did not bring a solution, the conflict between the two nations turned into increasingly bloody conflicts. In order to calm the situation in Kosovo, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 was adopted, which legalized NATO's campaign in Kosovo and issued KFOR a mandate for a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. With the KFOR peacekeeping mission, NATO managed to stabilize the situation and in 2008, Kosovo became a world-renowned country. In the year 2000, one year after the start of the peacekeeping mission, the Slovenian Armed Forces actively joined the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo and have been a part of it for the last 18 years. Keywords:Kosovo, peacekeeping mission, KFOR, Slovenian armed forces
