Abstract:Jedro Slovenske vojske predstavljajo pehotni polki, ki po standardih zveze NATO spadajo v kategorijo lahkih pehotnih enot. Da bi vojska lahko opravila zastavljene naloge in dosegla cilje, je potrebno zagotoviti zadostno ognjeno podporo in bojno moč enotam, ki opravljajo te naloge. Republika Slovenija se je kot članica zveze NATO zavezala k izgradnji enot srednje pehote, katere jedro predstavljajo mehanizirane enote opremljene z bojnimi vozili pehote in samovoznimi minometnimi sistemi. Za dosego teh ciljev se bo moral del Slovenske vojske preoblikovati iz lahkih pehotnih enot v enote srednje pehote. Z razvojem zmogljivosti srednjih pehotnih enot se poveča tudi spekter nalog, ki ne bodo samo več mirovniške, ampak tudi naloge v spopadih visoke intenzitete.

Language:EnglishAbstract:The core of the Slovenian Armed Forces are infantry regiments, which, according to NATO standards, belongs into the category of light infantry units. In order to achieve the set tasks and objectives, it%s essential that sufficient fire support and combat power are delivered out to the units carrying out these tasks. As a member of the NATO, the Republic of Slovenia committed itself to the construction of a medium infantry units, whose core is represented by mechanized units equipped with infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled mortars systems. To achieve these goals, a part of the Slovenian Armed Forces will have to transform from light infantry units into medium infantry units. The development of the capabilities of the medium infantry units also increases the range of tasks that will not only be more peacemaking nature, but also tasks in high-intensity conflicts.Keywords:infantry regiment, mechanized units, fire support, combat power, infantry vehicle
