Abstract:
Zaradi njene geografske odprtosti so skozi njo potekale pomembne železniške in cestne komunikacije.

Abstract:
In the period between the First and the Second World Wars the building of rail links was on the increase. Slovenia was both, geographically and strategically, a very important territory during the Second World War. Due to its geographical openness it provided significant rail and road communications. The railway system on territories, occupied by the Germans, became part of the German railway system. The same happened in those regions of Slovenia where the German regime of railway management was fully established. Without the railway in Slovenia occupying forces would not have been able to carry out their plans. On the other hand, the liberation movement was founded and all the time it carried out diversions on the railways and other objects, and thus caused damage to the occupier. Each successfully accomplished sabotage echoed loudly among the Slovenians. In this way the Slovenian nation was made aware of the liberation movement’s presence and its fight for liberation.
