Opis: It has become important for Hungary, like other countries, to have a proper background in order to adapt to extreme weather phenomena caused by climate change. Several legal and technical regulations have been developed recently as strategic answers to these challenges. The defence sector also takes part in this process, so this paper highlights the primary environmental risks concerning the military, and presents some possibilities for the armed forces to be %greener%, based on the example of the Hungarian Defence Forces. A small country such as Hungary, of course, cannot stop these unwanted global processes; the goal is to ease the consequences and adapt to the changes as much as possible in order to increase climate resilience.Najdeno v: osebiKljučne besede: climate change, adaptation, resilience, warfare, securityObjavljeno: 07.10.2020; Ogledov: 3941; Prenosov: 4 Polno besedilo (637,18 KB)
Opis: Threats to national security are becoming more and more diverse, and factors are emerging which we did not expect. In recent decades, we have increasingly perceived extreme environmental events resulting from climate change as threats. This includes natural disasters related to weather, climate and/or water (windstorms, extreme precipitation, heat waves and extreme cold, wildfires, droughts,.). Military forces are carrying out their operations while being more and more affected by difficult environmental circumstances, and in addition their use in disaster management has become indispensable in our times. In this paper, the authors examine climate-related disasters’ impact on national security and on the use of military forces.Najdeno v: osebiKljučne besede: mitigation, adaptation, securityObjavljeno: 28.12.2022; Ogledov: 1574; Prenosov: 7 Polno besedilo (404,24 KB)
Opis: With the ongoing Russian military operations against Ukraine, reviewing the impact of the military forces’ activities on the environment is crucial. The topic is relevant not only because the devastation is immeasurable, but also because all the data proves that wars have effects that accelerate climate change. In this paper we review some of the environmental issues arising from Russian aggression, and we also refer to the effects of previous military conflicts of this kind. We deal with the pollution caused by war and the relationship between war and water. We touch on the destruction of some aspects of infrastructure (cultural goods, energy, health, transport) and its consequences.Najdeno v: osebiKljučne besede: built and natural environment, pollution, devastation of war, Russia-Ukraine warObjavljeno: 17.07.2023; Ogledov: 1231; Prenosov: 1 Polno besedilo (551,34 KB)
