Abstract: Smart states, through alliances, synergistically enhance the capacity, readiness, responsiveness, resilience, sustainability and interoperability of their instruments of national power. NATO is constantly continually responding in a multidimensional way to changing security threats and operational circumstances, including by updating and upgrading concepts, plans and measures. The Alliance is also an opportunity for self-reflection; not to judge in retrospect, but to prevent mistakes in the future. We need to discuss honestly why we might be elsewhere, as had been desired and planned, but at the same time, despite our small size, we could be more courageous in pursuing different and original solutions.

Abstract: The European post-Cold War order was based on a pan-European consensus that democracy was the only source of legitimacy % until the Kremlin opposed the realization of a Europe whole, free and at peace with itself. There has been a paradigm change from cooperation to systemic competition. Russian revisionism poses the greatest security threat to Europe. The nature of the threat was realized rather late. The assault on the post-Cold War order was not just a classic war, which relies on hard power; instead, the war also took place in the cognitive sphere, which represents a particular challenge for open, democratic societies. Furthermore, it was also a normative assault. An effective response requires a mental shift and the strengthening of cognitive resilience as well as solidarity as the key foundations of security.

Abstract: John R. Boyd je bil vojaški pilot v Vojnem letalstvu ZDA, ki je svoje ideje in znanje s tega področja prenesel na splošno vojaško teorijo. Znan je po tem, da je kot eden prvih teoretično opisoval mehanizem zračnega bojevanja in razvil E-M (ang. Energy-Maneuverability) teorijo, ki je bila podlaga za oblikovanje bojnih letal v 70. in 80. letih prejšnjega stoletja. Znan je tudi po razvoju OODA (ang. Observe-Orient-Decide-Act) zanke v procesu odločanja. Po upokojitvi je bil na področju razvoja vojaške teorije še naprej dejaven, saj je s svojimi koncepti sodeloval pri razvoju novega načina bojevanja (manevrsko vojskovanje), ki so ga med prvimi povzeli v Korpusu mornariške pehote ZDA. V zaključni nalogi se bomo osredotočili na opis Boydovih najpomembnejših dosežkov od začetkov v letalstvu do kasneje oblikovanih teorij in poskušali najti njihovo povezavo s sodobno vojaško teorijo na primeru doktrin v Oboroženih silah ZDA.
