Orientation contains six steps, which are extremely important to determine, what has to be done, to complete the mission. The intent of end assignment on Staff Officer Course is to analyze and solve a problem on the battalion level. In Slovenian army are in higher ranks ongoing discussions if the battalion level is appropriate level for conducting operational design or is this step in jurisdiction of higher level in chain of command. In this assignment I will analyze the elements of operational design on the example of the 1st Motorized battalion on modified example of an operational order for computer conducted exercise of the 72th Brigade of Slovenian Army "OGENJ 2005".
