Abstract:	Operativno oblikovanje je skladno s Navodilom za štabno delo (NŠD) četrti korak druge stopnje procesa načrtovanja delovanj, ki se imanuje orientacija. Orientacija vsebuje šest korakov, ki so izjemnega pomena, za opredelitev, kaj je potrebno storiti, da dosežemo poslanstvo. Namen zaključne naloge štabnega šolanja častnikov je obdelati problem s nivoja bataljona. V slovenski vojaški javnosti se pojavljajo razprave, ali je nivo bataljona že primeren za izvajanje operativnega oblikovanja, oziroma ali je ta korak vendarle v domeni višjega nivoja, ki ima širšo sliko dogajanja na bojišču. V tej nalogi na primeru 1. motoriziranega bataljona 8x8 v napadu, ki je v sestavi motoriziranebrigade poglobljeno analiziram ta problem, na modificiranem praktičnem primeru brigadne naloge 72.BR za računalniško podprto vajo RPV "OGENJ 2005".
