Language: | English | Title: | How Slovenian Armed Forces formed foreign peacetime establishment, after joining the Alliance | Abstract: | On joining the Nato, one of the tasks for Slovenian armed forces was to fill certain pocitions within alliance. By doing so, on one hand national and integration goals were achieved and on the other hand this was also a good opportunity for national military representatives to gain important international experiences and enhance one’s own, professional growths.
Peacetime establishment of the Slovenian Armed Forces abroad joins the SAF members on duties such as: national military representatives and missions, members’ witin NATO command and forces structure, representatives in different facilities, institutes, international organizations and bodies, within multinational commands and staffs.
SAF peacetime establishment abroad, organization, structure and military representatives responsibilities and duties are defined and are in accordance with Slovenian governmental documents and regulations, international agreements, Slovenian Armed Forces documents, standards and orders.
When appointed on duty abroad Slovenian armed forces members face different challenges, not only professional but also personal. This challenges are related to theirs and theirs family life. Usually they face two options either they have to separate from family (living family in Slovenia) or family have to move in completely new, foreign environment. Despite the fact that we have system to support individuals when appointed on peacetime duty a broad, we have to maintain close look on how the system works in reality and insure improvements if or when needed.
