Abstract:	Ko je Sovjetska zveza izvedla invazijo v Afganistan so se opirali na izkušnje iz Vzhodne Nemčije, Madžarske in Češkoslovaške. Na žalost njihovih vojakov in prebivalcev Afganistana so zanemarili pretekle izkušnje Britancev in lastnih bojev iz Centralne Azije v letih 1918-1933. V Afganistanu je bila tako njihovataktika neprimerna, saj so se bojevali v zelo težkih pogojih proti visoko motiviranim upornikom - mudžahedinom. Moje zaključno delo je zajelo nekaj praktičnih izkušenj, ki so jih pridobili takratni poveljniki in mislim da so pomembne za urjenje vodov, oddelkov in skupin, ki se bodo udeležili konfliktov z uporniki v Afganistanu. Delo vsebuje podatke države Afganistan intežave, ki jih moramo obvladovati v bojevanju: žrtve, prilagajanje in preživetje.

Abstract:	When the Soviet Union decided to invade Afghanistan, they evaluated their chances for success upon their experiences in East Germany, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Unfortunately for their soldiers, as well as the people of Afghanistan, they ignored not only the experiences of the British in the same region, but also their own experience with the Basmachi resistance fighters inCentral Asia from 1918-1933. Consequently, in Afghanistan the Soviet army found its tactics inadequate to meet the challenges posed by the difficult terrain and the highly motivated mujahideen freedom fighters. My final work inthe Officer school captured some lessons their tactical leaders learned in Afghanistan and to explain the consequences that followed. I think that lessons are valuable for the tactical training of platoon, squad and teams likely to engage in conflicts involving guerrilla forces in Afghanistan. This work is dealing with the basic data of the state of Afghanistan and the starkest features of the unforgiving landscape of tactical combat: casualties,death, adaptation, and survival.
