Abstract:Ženske se vse bolj aktivno vključujejo v strukture oboroženih sil, kjer si gradijo svojo karierno pot.

Language:EnglishAbstract:Women are increasingly involved in the structure of the armed forces, where they build their career path. This trend can also be observed in the Slovenian armed Forces. However, many factors can influence the fact that career of women and men differ, both in civilian life and even more in the army. The modern trend in the armed forces indicates greater involvement of women in peacekeeping operations where there is less direct physical expression of power and armed conflict and where the use of weapons is limited to a minimum. Characteristics, mostly possessed by women, such as great negotiations capabilities, understanding of different cultures, empathy with civilian population in the area of international operations, are becoming more and more relevant. Women could easily turn these advantages to their profit when building their careers. In a study I tried to establish the extent to which women participate in peacekeeping operations, which are the main motives for their involvement, how participation impacts on their careers and how their prolonged absence is affecting their families.
