Language: | English | Abstract: | This thesis examines the critical aspects of strategic military thinking in the contemporary security environment. This study aims to explore the theory in this field to develop a synthesis of a shared understanding of this vital concept. The content focuses on the challenges faced by military leaders such as Dwight D. Eisenhower, Alan Brooke, Valery Gerasimov, and James Mattis, and selected contemporaries who encounter the concept daily in the context of their function or profession through strategic thinking. These exemplary leaders have demonstrated the capacity to adapt their strategies to dynamic geopolitics, technology, and warfare changes. They have employed critical, creative, and temporal thinking to pursue long-term objectives. This thesis provides an analysis of the universal characteristics of strategic thinking. It examines how contemporary leaders successfully adapt their strategies to new threats, including information warfare, hybrid warfare, and asymmetric conflicts.
